Fire Door Surveys

The Governments Fire Door Investigation

The Government is undertaking an investigation into the fire door industry following concerns about the consistency of flat front entrance fire doors against the required performance standards.

Advice to Building Owners

There is nothing more important than ensuring people are safe in their homes. Building owners should assure themselves that products being used in their buildings meet the required standards. Leyland Forrest will carry out a comprehensive inspection/survey and produce an easy to read report with photographic evidence, location and defect information. The inspection would typically include all fire doors that provide compartmentation within your building. It is essential to determine compliance with current legislation and government guidance. (BS 9999: 2008 Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings).

Where fire doors fail to meet the required standards, we will highlight any deficiencies and provide a competitive quote to carry out all necessary remedial works.

On completion of any remedial works, each door will be certified, and an identifying label attached stating date, installer and recommended date of re-inspection.

All the information is recorded in a full before and after report.

Along with the report, the client will receive a list of materials used and copies of all relevant test evidence for their records.  This will help the Responsible person meet their obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire SafetyOrder 2005, which replaces most fire safety legislation with one simple order. It means that any person who has some level of control in premises must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.
