Compartmentation Is vital to prevent the rapid spread of smoke and fire.
By subdividing the building we can protect escape routes, high risk or high value areas, prevent extensive losses and most importantly protect lives.

You are in safe hands

At Leyland Forrest we carry out comprehensive, non-destructive fire compartmentation surveys. We produce comprehensive, easy to read reports on the condition of walls, floors, roof voids, wall voids, risers, shafts, floor voids and basements. All remedial works are carried out by our highly trained and fully qualified team.

Your Report

Reports outline the existing condition of the fire compartmentation measures, and where necessary recommend improvements that should be undertaken in order to make your buildings compliant with current statutory requirements (BS 9999: 2008 Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings). Where compartmentation fails to meet the required standards, we will highlight any deficiencies and provide a competitive quote to carry out all necessary remedial works.

Remedial Works

On completion of any remedial works, each repair or improvement will be certified, and an identifying label attached stating date, installer and recommended date of re-inspection. The client will also receive a list of materials used and copies of all relevant test evidence. This will assist the responsible person to meet their obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The order stipulates that any person who has some level of control of premises must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire while ensuring people can safely escape in the event of a fire. It is currently recommended that all compartmentation be inspected every 12 months to ensure all compartmentation remains compliant as some maintenance activity can disturb its integrity.
